Covid-19 Update

Dear Client,

In response to the Governor’s mandate to close “non-essential” business:

I am a healthcare provider and consider my services ‘essential’ and will be in the office for my normally scheduled times. While I might strongly encourage you to consider doing our sessions by video, I would rather you have the option to continue coming into the office for in-person sessions if you are most comfortable with that.

I have been doing telehealth sessions for several years with clients all across the world. It has been helpful for people who were in the Las Vegas area and then moved, people who were referred to me and were living out of the area from the start, people who’ve had transportation issues, people who worked with me in person but were sick that that day or had childcare issues. It has also been helpful when I have been sick in the past. It has proven to be very effective from my point of view.

The platform is a HIPAA-compliant, medical-grade video system that is secure and confidential and cannot be hacked.

If you would like to try this, there are two options from your end: do it on your smartphone or on your computer (as long as you have a webcam and a microphone).

If using your phone, simply download the free app called Telehealth by SimplePractice. At the time of your appointment, I will send you a link and when you click the link you can join the call on your phone.

If you will do this by a tablet or computer, I will provide you a link at the time of your appointment and you simply click the link and the meeting opens from your web browser.

The link will be *your link and will always be the same for your future sessions.

Please know that while I try to be on time, I am often running a few minutes late after a restroom break (sorry). So if you are on the call at the scheduled time and I am not there, just wait for a few moments just as you might in my waiting room.

If I am billing your insurance from long ago, I will still continue doing that even for video sessions and insurance plans have agreed to pay for this service. If you are paying out of pocket, please talk with me if things are difficult financially. I may be able to reduce your fee or delay receiving your payment until things stabilize with jobs and the economy.

This is a strange time, and what I anticipate for most people is increased anxiety and tension and trouble in your relationships. You may be tempted to cope with old and unhealthy patterns (if substance use or other addictions have been a problem in the past). Take care of yourself by continuing our work together if at all possible. Talk with me if you feel you aren’t able to proceed like we have been thus far.

I would ask that if you feel you’re at risk of having been exposed or have *any symptoms at all* that you please opt out of the in-person session or do so by video. I will try to be more flexible with my cancellation policy, just please let me know with as much notice as possible.

We’re gonna get through this. I am on your team and am committed to doing everything I can to help you through this.
